You know Uber, type in where you want to go in their app, someone will come, pick you up and take you their, and it will be cheap as chips? Well their sucess is set continue, as they branch out and diversify the brand to take market share in other sectors. This time, car hire.
The launch follows successful pilots in France and Australia earlier this year. Users simply need to select ‘Car Hire’ in the app, where they can browse the marketplace of cars available from CarTrawler before booking their preferred vehicle.
They can then pick up the car on their chosen date at one of the hundreds of participating CarTrawler locations across the country and hit the road.
Whether users are looking to visit family and friends or enjoy a weekend getaway, there are a range of cars to suit all needs and price points. Booking through the Uber app will also give users access to exclusive discounts of up to 25% off as well as free cancellations up to 48 hours ahead of collecting their car.
Bookings can be made right up to the time of pick-up, but we recommend making your bookings 24 hours in advance to make sure you get the car you want at the best price.
Jamie Heywood, Regional General Manager for Northern and Eastern Europe, Uber, said: “Now that travel restrictions are easing and people are venturing out more, we want to help get the country moving safely again. Whether it’s public transport, bike and car rentals, car rides or even a boat, users can now make almost any journey on the app, pushing us further towards our goal of ending the need for private car ownership.”
Car rental companies are providing reassurances to customers concerning their health and safety. All cars are receiving a deep-cleaning and strong social distancing protocols have been implemented industry wide.
The feature appeared in the app for me, along with food and getting a ride but due to where I’m located, I couldnt pick up a hire location. It’s new, it’s rolling out, I’ll give it some time.
