Korean technology site Asia Economic has apparently leaked specs on the new LG G3 smartphone. We’re told that it will have a 5.5inch screen, larger than the older G2 model. It will also have a 2560-x1440 Quad HD resolution. That equates to 534 pixels per inch.
If this is true then this will absolutely swamp its current competition, the Samsung S5, Sony Xperia Z2 and also the HTC One M8.
Twitter page @evleaks has also leaked some information on what we think is going to be the new G3 phone stating it has a 2560×1440 screen. The model number is known within this script as a D805. This doesn’t match up to any related LG devices released before which makes me think it maybe some kind of secret model number, or an unreleased G3.
LG have apparently opted for its own octa-core Odin processor. This means the G3 will pack four 2.2GHz Cortex-A15 cores and another four 1.5GHz Cortex-A7 cores for the less demanding applications. If this isn’t the case, then we’re hoping to see the Qualcomm quad-core Snapdragon 801 or even the 805 make an appearance.
Hopefully this will lead to extra battery life. There is also talk of 3GB of RAM present. This should be enough to keep up with the latest models on the market at the moment.
From a photography point of view the LG G3 is expected to have a 16 megapixel sensor along with LG’s optical image stabilisation. This should ensure that low-light performance remains just as impressive as the G2.
4K video is on the cards as well, and I will be very shocked if LG do not include it this time round, as the G2’s Snapdragon 801 was fully capable of recording at that resolution.
If it follows in the footsteps of the G2, we could see the G3 arrive at the same time as the iPhone 6. There is still no word about pricing yet.
LG, after speaking with Engadget has just confirmed that the LG G3 will have a 2,560×1,440 display. American provider Sprint accidently leaked details on the model number LS990, which turned out to be the new G3. The information leaked stated that the screen is going to be a quad HD screen. The word “quad” refers to the screen having 4x the number of pixels than in a 720p image.
The handset will also feature 3GB of RAM according to the leaked information. There will also be a 13MP rear facing camera, and an expandable microSD card slot for up to 64gb of memory.
