In the box you get two lamps and a single remote control (requires AAA batteries). The lamps look like a normal lamp, with a couple of tweaks. The LED chip can generate alot of heat, for a chip, not to the touch, and needs to be cooled, so the bottom half of the lamp acts as a heat sink to dissipate that heat. On top of this you then have the chip itself, finished with a frosted cover. What chip are they using, I’m not sure, one can hope it’s from one of the big boys like Philips or Orsam etc. This design principle applies to all the lamps, regardless of which type you purchase. The lamps are easy to install, just screw or clip in, but do double check which connection your pendant/table light accepts. IF you purchase the wrong type, you can get adapters online very cheap.

Insert the lamps, turn them on by the light switch and they will function like any regular lamp would. Get hold of the remote control and then things start to get interesting! There are 16 preset mood options on the remote, including party, fire effect and a ‘romantic’ setting, for those interment moments. The remote also gives you the ability to turn the lights on & off, dim them up & down and there is a colour wheel, which allows you to adjust the colour to whatever you want. If colour is not your thing, then you can still fully adjust the white light (warm to cold) and dim up & down, so you can set a low level warm white for an evening and a more intense white light for practical work during the day.

You can expand your lighting system by adding more lights to the system, offering near on endless opportunities. Also, iDual don’t just do lamps, they also manufacture fittings as well, including table lamps, spot lights, downlights, wall lights, surface mounted & suspended pendants, both for internal & external use. Check out their Nexus fitting, that would look great over a kitchen island.

Overall, the lamps work really well, the remote is responsive and easy to use. The colour is very accurate and you can get pretty specific on colours if you want to. The light output is good, I put these two lamps in a two living room ceiling pendants and it filled the room with plenty of light. It has some great default settings, I like the flickering fire & candle light effects, they work really well.

This twin pack currently retails at £39.99, which is one of the cheapest prices Ive seen for colour changing, controllable, LED lamps in the market. Great fun, practicable and very user friendly, just make sure you check which lamp type you need before purchasing!
