Wow, that phone name is a bit of a mouthful. The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold2 5G. How many times can you say that quickly. From here on out, we’re going to call it the Samsung Fold2. Sound okay?

Well, as you can see from the headline, the Samsung Fold2 has been announced, and it comes with some enhancements over its predecessor. Most notably, 5G connectivity.

The folded screen, named the Ininity-O cover screen measures at 6.2-inches so users can crack on with their every day tasks without having to unfold the device. Once flipped open though, users are greeted with a 7.6-inch main screen, with minimised bezels and a front camera. There is no notch either to maximise screen real estate. The screen also has a 120Hz refresh rate and stereo speakers for added immersion.

The glass and hinge have also been re-engineered to look sleeker, but to also aid in durability. There’s a Hideaway Hinge as well as a CAM mechinism which aids in Flex Mode experiences and will enable free standing use. The Fold 2 is also borrowing from the Galaxy Flip as it’s using sweeper technology to protect the hinge area from dust and unwanted gunk.

Enhanced usage is also a big thing for the Fold2, with seamless transitions, and the chance to choose your own work space between the front and main screens. Samsung are calling this App Continuity. As an example, if you’re taking a portrait photo, you can now turn both screens on, so you and your subject can see what the photo is going to look like. And reviewing photos can take up one half of the main screen, while the other half is reserved for live view, so you can track your photos while you take more. There’s also the usual photography modes available too.

With the main screen being larger, it means multitasking can now come into full play with the Galaxy Fold2, and enables users to integrate several apps at once into their view, or multiple files from the same app. There’s also cool features like drag and drop text and images between apps in the multitasking view.

Inside you can find a 4,500mAh battery and also comes with fast charging capabilities, so you can stay active for longer.

The Samsung Galaxy Fold2 5G will come in four different colours: Metallic Silver, Metallic Gold, Metallic Red, and Metallic Blue.

It’s goign to be available from the 18th September and is going to cost around £1,799. Woah. There’s a Thom Browne package that comes with a bunch of other stuff like a watch which will retail from £2,999 and is exclusive to Samsung and Harrods, London. Double woah.
