Half Life has been a touchy subject for all fans of the series due to the fact that, despite the thousand of articles claiming it’s coming, there is no third. Come on Valve, give us what we want please!

But wait, there might be some light on the horizon, although it’s not as bright as we would like it to be. That light comes in the shape of a Greenlight campaign for a Half Life 2 VR version of the game made by the guys who own Steam.

The mod will work on both the HTC Vive and the Occulus Rift and it will add tweaks like increasing the resolution of textures and models as well as creating a new 3D interface and new interactions for the crowbar and other weapons. The mod team is also promising the following:

  • HDR lighting, which will increase details by capturing the brighter whites and deeper blacks.
  • Updated effects, textures, models and maps
  • A made for VR UI
  • Realistic weapon interactions
  • Multiple VR locomotion methods

Normally Greenlight campaigns are for games, not mods. But the creators want it be accessible via a single click on Steam and for this to happen, the campaign has to be successful. So why not check it out for yourself by heading on over to the page and vote! For more information you can head on over to roadtovr.com and check the whole article.
