It was bound to happen at some point. PC giants Dell have just announced their new range of AIO (All-In-One) models to enter their popular Inspiron product line. This includes two: the first is the 27 7000 series, the 24 5000 series and one major move into the gaming market. They have just released their first gaming rig into the Inspiron series.

They’re using their InfinityEdge which in a nutshell is a borderless screen, maximising the entire surface area of the desktop AIO. They’re even claiming their machines are available for virtual reality, opening their PCs up to users of the HTC Vive or Oculus Rift headsets.

Dell have gone for this new move due to multimedia usage, which is perfect for those wanting a machine to consume image or video content, or even content creators wanting to create their own media.

“Dell has experienced 17 consecutive quarters of PC growth by continuously innovating with our PC designs and experiences,” said Ray Wah, Senior Vice President and General Manager, Dell Consumer and Small Business Product Group. “With more people than ever streaming movies, gaming and consuming VR content on PCs, Dell remains committed to providing the best visual and audio experiences and the new Inspiron All-in-Ones and Gaming Desktop bring that innovation mainstream.”

The Dell Gaming Desktop

So this is the most exciting thing to us. Dell finally stretching properly into the world of gaming. It was hard to find the exact specifications of this desktop, but if you go to Dell.com, there are a few customisations you can make. It looks like these ship with a new AMD Ryzen processor, and the graphical options for you start with an nVidia GTX1060 or if you’re more into your Radeon cards, then they’re advertising the RX580 card on their website.

It’s a nice way of doing things admittedly. Dell has left it in the hands of the consumer, giving them the choice on how much they want to pay for their new machine. And yes, I know Dell has been inside the gaming market with their Alienware machines, but still, this is one of the first Dell branded gaming desktops available. The Dell gaming desktop will start at £699 depending on parts you choose, which makes this very friendly to budget conscious gamers.

Other specs included are 32GB DDR4 RAM memory, 7.1 channel HD audio using Waves MaxxAudio Pro drivers, one USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-C ports and six SuperSpeed USB 3.1 Gen 1 ports. It seems that all is looking good for Dell.

Dell’s AIO Can Handle VR

I know that people probably wouldn’t invest in an AIO machine for VR, but the compact nature of an AIO is perfect for those with limited space. You will find again a Ryzen processor, and the AMD Polaris RX500 Series graphics. The display is able to hit 4K UHD resolutions as well as giving you some great sound.

We’ve only giving you the overall news coming out of Dell at Computex ’17. We will be following up with some in-depth reviews once they have been released to the world. At the moment they are available in China, but you can also get your hands on these products by going to Dell.com
