Soulja Boy’s Console Got Cranked… Finally
Surprise surprise that Soulja Boy’s console failed. I mean come on… selling consoles with pirated Nintendo ROMS on there wasn’t going to last was it.
The original lineup consisted of just two machines which were rebranded devices from the company ANBERNIC and resold through Chinese e-store AliExpress. The home console and ‘SouljaBoy Mini’ Gameboy rip off handheld were thought to have hundreds of pirated games on there. Unboxers on YouTube found that the consoles were actually nothing more than a tiny PCB which ran the emulators.
But it seems that Nintendo have finally caught up with the 2007 Crank That rapper and have taken over his website, as his http://souljagame.com/ website now redirects to the Nintendo 3DS site. Funny that.
What more, Soulja Boy has taken down all of his product pages so when trying to access you’re greeted with a 404 error page not found.
I had to boss up, I didn’t have a choice. 🤷🏾♂️— Soulja Boy (Drako) (@souljaboy) December 29, 2018
There’s nothing official coming out of Nintendo’s camp or even Soulja Boy’s for that matter except this tweet claiming that he “had to boss up”. Does this mean Nintendo went after him with a lawsuit? Only time will tell. Nintendo are very protective over their games, and have only recently created a Creator’s Program for YouTubers wanting to play Nintendo games.
His eSports team is still apparently on the way though in January 2019 as this tweet that was put out earlier reads:
Jan 2019 the esports team launches. Get ready the hustle doesn’t stop. Big plans will be announced soon I’m just getting started— Soulja Boy (Drako) (@souljaboy) December 28, 2018
At least that business venture would be a legal one.
