Did you know Chris Brown owns 12 Burger Kings? I didn’t, until today and I find this hilarious. He can add that to his resume of terrible music and beating up his girlfriends. But what’s even funnier is the other celebrities feel that owning a burger joint is the way forward. Kanye West owns nine Fatburgers in Chicago, and Rick Ross owns nine wing shops. That explains the gut. In my head I’m already imagining a sequel to Goodburger with Kanye, Brown and Ross battling to compete with Mondo Burger. Celebrities never cease to amaze me.

Well that’s the first piece of news I wanted to share with you all today. I know you look to me as a source of culturally relevant news. I also wanted to take some time to talk about Soma, a survival horror game from Frictional Games, creators of the Amnesia and Penumbra series. I’m a massive fan of survival horror and really enjoyed Amnesia even though it scared the hell out of me! So naturally this game has been on my radar from quite some time.

There was a great teaser trailer released in October 2013 now since then there hasn’t been much but a few teaser clips. Then there was another gameplay trailer released on the 29th May 2015 and now we are at the point where the release is not far away. The initial date has been set to September 22nd 2015. I’m really excited for this game. We’re told it’s full of choices that will make you question who the monster really is. In the latest trailer we see a way to re-route power by killing a innocent or risking yourself to get power to the room you need. Then there’s being chased by a hideous human/robot hybrid. Which would you choose?

The game is heavily influenced by Philip K. Dick, particularly from Total Recall and Blade Runner. In the sense Frictional Games want players to step away with a feeling of “what the hell just happened?” Everything I’ve seen so far has got me really excited, from the influence drawn from a great writer and heavy choices wrapped up in a survival horror. I personally can’t wait to get my hands on Soma.

Soma is set to be released for the PlayStation 4 and PC on September 22nd. Before that though, why not check out the new gameplay trailer below?
