I’ve never been one to get too hyped over smartphone gaming, but a newphone has just been released that’s kind of peaked my interest. It’s called the RedMagic 5G, and it’s from a company called Nubia. It’s been released in China so far today, but we’re hoping it’s going to take on the rest of the world.

But, what can you expect? Well, it’s branded a gaming smartphone which means one thing… 144Hz refresh rate! It has a 6.65″ Amoled eSports display, which sounds a little like marketing speak to me, but that’s probably referring to the 144Hz refresh.
Secondly, we can expect 5G connectivity, although it’s not been rolled out in a super huge way in the west so far. We’re still really struggling with 4G in some areas in the UK, so 5G is a way off yet.

Under the hood is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 processor for all your gaming needs, and it even houses Active Liquid Cooling with a Turbo Fan 3.0. Liquid cooling on a mobile phone excites me a lot.
There’s built-in shoulder trigger buttons for the likes of PUBG Mobile, Fortnite or Call of Duty Mobile and more. Perfect for horizontal gameplay.

Lastly for you photographers out there, there’s a tri-camera setup built by Sony which houses a 64-megapixel main camera, an 8-megapixel wide angle lenad and a 2-megapixel macro lens. Oh, and for you selfie fans out there, you’ve got a 12-megapixel camera round front. Features will include a supernight mode too. Not seen too much info on that, but hopefully we’ll be able to get our hands on one. We’ll see.

And for the most part, the phone looks pretty fierce. I’m absolutely loving the red and black colour schemes, and looking at their PR material, it also comes in all black, or teal and black too. It does to be honest look very gamery, and will certainly turn heads if you were to whip it out in a crowd or on the train during commutes.
