You’ve probably heard of Dollar Shave Club from various YouTube channel sponsorships. At one point nearly every single one of the channels I subscribe to had something to say about them. But of course, with all things, there’s never just one. Razors By Dorco is another example of a razor subscription service and I have been sent one to talk to you about.
Being a subscription based service. Dorco supply handles and blades as separate entities. They’ll send you a handle, in which we received the PACE 6 Plus. They gave me four blades as a starter kit, but the packages come in various options depending on how often you shave.
From four refill cartridges a month to four every three months. I fall into the latter category as I only shave a few times a month. Pricing starts at what looks like £7.99 for the handle, and a further £5.95 every three months for what I need. But if you’re a regular several times a week shaver, you’re looking at the same price but every month. The handle comes free if you purchase a subscription with it.
Coming from a Gilette Mach razor, I could instantly notice the increase in quality, especially with the handle’s construction. It felt very weighty in the hand and with areas covered in rubber for grip, I never felt as if it was going to slip, especially those quick shaving sessions in the shower.
Blades are also very nice to use, producing a really close shave. There’s a softer section towards the bottom too so you’re not scraping your skin too much when using the Dorco razer. Again, construction here is really premium too. The click-in mechanism between blade and handle is very strong compared to other plastic razors I’ve used and didn’t feel like it would have broken too easily if dropped.
Unfortunately I can’t comment on how good this one is over the Pace 3 or 4, because I’ve not had any hands on experience with them. But if the PACE 6 Plus is anything to go by, them I’m sure they’re blinding razors too. It’s a product that I’m certainly going to be continuing to use on a regular basis.
