I know that Apple are now seemingly cornering the market with their wireless charging technology, but they didn’t come up with it you know. Yes, they’ve made it popular but don’t fret Android users, wireless charging is available to you too with products like the PNY Wireless Charging Base.

The packaging states that this product is only compatible with a Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge, but I’m not sure about that. I’ve got an S7 and it worked, and I’ve seen other mobiles work with wireless charging plates, so I’m not sure how to feel about this.  On the website it does say “Compatible with iPhone 8, iPhone 8 plus, iPhone X, Samsung S6, S6 Edge and all other devices with integrated or added QI receiver.”

The actual device is rather small, which is great if you’re wanting to hide it away on a worktop or place it under your PC monitor. I’ve got it on my desk so my phone can keep a constant charge while I’m sitting here working. It’s great because I don’t have to worry about sticking a USB lead into my PC which is on the floor and trailing it behind my desk to reach my phone.

The only issue with this though is that the cable supplied with the PNY Wireless Charging Base isn’t very long, so I would recommend swapping it out with a longer one if you do want to keep it on a desk.

Apart from that, the charging base is practical, and works well. There is no fast charge here either, even when paired with an official Samsung S7 Edge charger that came in the box so bear that in mind too. For more information you can visit the PNY website.
