Before making the switch from console to PC, besides checking your saves and settings, you’ll also want to take a look at your in-game purchases. You’ll want to note which account holds your skins, where you can spend your leftover currency, and whether a top-up, like Fortnite V-Bucks and COD Points, will work on your new setup.
Will Your Skins and Progress Carry Over?
Fortnite supports cross-play, meaning purchases and progress made on one platform can be shared across others as long as they’re all linked to the same Epic Games account. The same goes for Call of Duty games, which also support cross-play. For CoD games, progress saves to your Activision account rather than the console itself.
Keep in mind that creating a new account and connecting your existing console profile doesn’t mean your old progress will move into the new account.
Do V-Bucks Transfer Between Console and PC?
Fortnite’s Shared Wallet lets V-Bucks be shared across several platforms. The exception to that is purchases made on the Nintendo Switch, which has a separate balance. Here’s how V-Bucks purchases work across platforms:
- PlayStation, Xbox, and PC purchases: V-Bucks here will be shared when connected to the same Epic Games account.
- Nintendo Switch purchases: V-Bucks bought on Switch, though, stay on the Switch. Any V-Bucks you have from other platforms on your account will also not show up on the Switch.
- Earned V-Bucks: Anything earned through Fortnite Passes, Quest Packs, or Save the World is shared across platforms.
Now, the restrictions made to V-Bucks aren’t applied to items. For example, if you buy a skin through your Switch balance, it can still be used on any device linked to the account.
Besides the Switch exception, there’s also a regional one: for players in Korea, V-Bucks purchased on PC aren’t shared with other platforms.
Can You Spend Console COD Points on PC?
Now, unlike your skins, your points won’t be moving between platforms in CoD. In Warzone, any COD Points bought stay on the platform where you got them. The same goes for any Points earned through the Battle Pass.
Now, there is a slight exception to that rule: the Xbox. For Black Ops 7, Activision says COD Points associated with your linked Xbox account can be used through things like Xbox on PC, Game Pass, and Xbox Cloud Gaming.
On the other hand, eligible items bought with COD Points can be shared across linked platforms, excluding platform-specific exclusives. Most content purchased directly with real money follows different, platform-bound rules. Don’t assume a cash bundle works like a bundle purchased with points.
What Should You Check Before Choosing a Top-Up?
Whether you’re comparing Fortnite V-Bucks top-ups or buying COD Points, start with the platform you’ll actually use. Don’t choose a package until you know where the currency will land.
For marketplaces like PlayerAuctions, Fortnite and COD top-up pages display package amounts, platform labels, and delivery information. Offers can carry a Manual Top-Up label, so don’t assume every purchase arrives as a code you redeem yourself.
Before paying, check:
- Platform and storefront: Double-check where the currency will be credited.
- Region: Read any country restrictions. V-Bucks gift cards, for example, must match your Epic account’s country or region.
- Delivery requirements: Check the method and expected delivery time.
