BT have been in talks with Britain’s largest telephone operator EE in a £12.5bn takeover. Last month, second-in-command at Orange Gervais Pellissier boarded a private jet to England along with a senior delegation from Telekom, EE’s other shareholder.

EE have overcome O2 in this multi-billion pound deal.

If the takeover happens, this will combine the UK’s largest home and mobile phone operators. It has been reported that various companies such as Vodafone, Sky and Talk Talk want a stricter regulation on BT’s  division Openreach, who provide the UK with wholesale broadband.

It isn’t clear what is going to happen in the end as Ofcom will have to look closely into the return of BT to the UK mobile market.
