Ok so it’s not too technical. Quite frankly, seeing a shark using a mobile phone to me wouldn’t be that entertaining. I’d rather see them propelling through the water after unsuspecting sea lion or a cocky surfer.

The terrors of the sea are back this August in a new installment of Shark Week and we’re looking forward to it.

Kicking off Sunday 2nd August you can see a number of programs related to sharks.

Shark Trek features Dr. Greg Skomal, a senior marine fisheries marine biologist tagging great white sharks off the coast of Cape Cod. He tried to determine why sunny Florida is a new shark’s favourite hotspot.

Lair Of The Megashark sees experts Jeff Kerr and Andy Casagrande in New Zealand investigating the sightings of the 20-foot great white. They explore shark feeding grounds hoping to come face to face with the giant.

Monster Mako explores the Mako sharks, the fastest in the sea. Little is known about this species of sharks so we hope this program can clear up a lot of unanswered questions. You will see the scientists involved connecting a camera to a Mako shark. Rare sightings will be included.

There are also additional programs, one of which Dr. Michael Domeier hunts for a great white’s pupping grounds. There’s even some information on Ninja Sharks, which follows six sharks who have evolved over time to become the most lethal hunters of the sea.

Shark Week commences on Sunday 2nd August right up until Saturday 8th August on Discovery Channel.
