Hands up who took advantage of the Dominos Valentine’s Day pizza offer on what was meant to be the day of love! Oh, just me? Come on, there’s got to be more of you out there!
Well, if you were one of those people, who are also actively looking for love, then Samsung may have you covered. They’re going to be hosting a few micro-dating sessions at their KX site in Coal Drops Yard.
Now, these dates have been designed to last 15-minutes at a time, and over a night of dating, you will be having up to three dates. But the trick, you will be wearing a Samsung Galaxy Watch to monitor your heart rate, you know, just incase Mr or Miss. Right comes along, and you don’t quite know it yourself. The dates are happening between Thursday 20th February to Thursday 19th March. Why not go along to see if you can find a potential match?

So why did this come about? Well Samsung has teamed up with happn, and have come up with a number of stats on people’s dating habits. For example, 2 in 5 people wish they could test their matches before meeting. They also revealed that 40% of Brits restrict to dating ‘their types’ instead of testing the water.
What more, 58% of us apparently wait a month before meeting matches and nearly half think their dates then lack any kind of spark. Apparently 33% of Brits think chemistry is the most important factor to dating, and 42% say it takes less than 30 minutes to feel it. So you got to impress quickly, otherwise it’s game over.
Marine Ravinet, Head of Trends, happn, comments: “Here at happn, we want to help people forge long-lasting, deep connections. This starts with understanding that your type on paper isn’t necessarily going to be the one you fall in love with. This forward-thinking way of micro-dating blows romantic types out of the water and we’re excited to partner with Samsung KX to help build better couplings through Samsung technology. After all, meaningful relationships begin with real life meetings.”

Tanya Weller, Director of Samsung Showcase, KX said: “We’re really excited to be hosting the #SamsungKX Micro-Dating series to help prevent more Brits wasting time and money on bad dates. This idea to literally track real chemistry and connections using our technology reaffirms what Samsung KX is all about, a true home of innovation. It’s experiences like these that really help us connect people and we’re looking forward to bringing more exciting events and workshops to our guests in the very near future.
To make things easier for you, happn have also included a set of dating tips, so you don’t make too many mistakes because you know, dating is the most stressful thing ever after all. Read them down below.
Top Tips on Dating From happn
Tip 1
Smartphone apps are great for getting things started but chemistry is the ultimate test, and the sooner you can determine whether those online sparks translate into real-life chemistry, the better. No one wants to come across too keen by suggesting a date as the opener, but once you have established common interests and you think they may take your fancy, take the plunge and suggest a date. We recommend waiting no longer than 1 or 2 weeks before the first micro-date so initial digital sparks don’t fade.
Tip 2
Using wearable tech such as a Samsung Galaxy Watch is a fun and easy way of keeping an eye on who gives you butterflies and sends your heart racing during romantic encounters.
Tip 3
First dates are exciting but it’s important to be safe when meeting someone new for the first time. Pick a safe, public space and be sure to let your friends know where you’re going and when you expect to be home. If you are picking the location for your date, plan ahead and choose a location that’s fun and inspires conversation to make an impact in micro-minutes.
Tip 4
If past relationships have not worked out – maybe this is because you always go for who you feel is your ‘perfect type’. Leave your prejudices behind and dare to meet someone different. Pay attention to the chemistry and remember, they say opposites attract for a reason!
Tip 5
Don’t be rude or ghost someone if you are not interested after a date, just because you are talking via technology. It doesn’t cost you anything to say goodbye, to offer a polite message letting someone know you are not interested without leaving them hanging.
