Rory McIlroy, the world’s top ranked golfer has just become the new face of EA Sports PGA Tour. The new installation of gaming’s favourite golfing simulator is set to be released in June this year.
He is to replace Tiger Woods who lasted a whopping 16 years as the game’s cover star.
The sportsman is representing a new wave of players as well as the new generation of consoles.
“I’m very proud and humbled to see my face and name on EA SPORTS Rory McIlroy PGA TOUR,” said McIlroy. “This is a great honour, and something I couldn’t even dream of growing up playing the sport. I really hope people enjoy the game and I’m very glad I can be a part of it.”
EA Sports have decided to use the Frostbite 2 engine to build their new Roy McIlroy PGA Tour game. It’s promised that the new instalment will feature more beautiful locations. Using the new engine will also eliminate load times as whole courses will be rendered at once.
“Frostbite has allowed us to take this franchise to a whole new level,” stated Brent Nielsen, Executive Producer of EA SPORTS Rory McIlroy PGA TOUR. “The new engine drastically improves all facets of the game, from core gameplay to opportunities for brand-new modes and features.
