There is always one little gem to come out of a year worth of tech, whether it’s something huge like a television, or small, like this EzeeCube Home Cloud Hub.

EzeeCube is a small 1TB cloud based device that can be accessed anywhere, and I mean anywhere as long as you have a decent WiFi connection. You’re able to store your music, videos and images all in one place, so you can share them with your family a friends, wherever they are in the world.

The system runs on a Cortex A9 dual core processor and 1 GB of DDR3 64-bit 1066 MHz memory, and 4 GB of Flash eMMC memory. There is a HDMI connection to plug it into your television or monitor, and a network switch so you can hook it up to a router for direct internet access.

The menu system on the actual screen is governed by a small remote control with very few buttons to get lost with. It was easy to navigate through the different menus which split up your media into type, date, and also, which I thought was quite good, facial recognition on images. The EzeeCube does all of this for you as well so no spending time putting media into several folders all the time.

There are two ways to back up your media to the EzeeCube. The first is using your Android or iOS device and app. The second is from a laptop or desktop computer, again, using software. The EzeeCube will automatically back up new media that arrives on your devices, keeping it simple. The software will recognise duplicate files too so you’ll never have to go in and delete them every time the automatic backup starts again. A very cool feature if you ask me and will save a lot of hassle.

The EzeeCube is extremely simple to use. There were no complex set up stages, and everything just worked from the box. I have mine currently hooked up to my PC monitor through the second HDMI port so I have media functionality without having to turn on my PC. Handy for watching films.

The EzeeCube also uses DLNA functionality meaning it can receive a stream from a DNLA enabled device such as a camcorder or digital SLR camera.

EzeeCube is great, and with the added ‘stacking’ function, meaning you can stack different componenets to it such as their Blu-Ray player, makes this an all around decent media centre for all of your family content in one place.

You can find out more from their Indiegogo campaign currently sitting at over $160,000. Go and support them and get your hands on one of the first pre-orders. You won’t regret it.
