It’s interesting when you think about how fast technology has evolved over the last decade or so. I’m 25 and still remember the first time I sat in front of a PC. It was a Windows 95 computer that my dad put me in front of to play Doom. He probably wanted to see my reaction like so many YouTube videos now. Shame it wasn’t around back then. Because I was so young being around three at the time, I asked my dad a few questions to see what he went through with that first machine.
It was a Dell and the cost of the PC was around £3000 although my dad at the time purchased a RAM memory upgrade from 2MB to 4MB. You did read it correctly, I said 4MB. He said it was a huge upgrade at the time. CRAZY!
He had one major problem with the machine. Going back to PC World my dad asked why programs would not work. Their solution was to run a floppy drive with software on it to free up the first 64k of RAM space. This needed to be done every time most applications started.
